The Great Fire of London

There was lots of excitement in the air in the Year 2 classroom this week as held our Great Fire event on Thursday; was a spectacular event! The children enjoyed sharing what they had learned about the fire with the other watching children and then Mr Settle donned a baker’s hat and lit the fire for us.

Leaping flames were helped by a breeze as they were in 1666 and so, much to the excitement of us all, the houses were burnt to the ground, with the exception of course, of Samuel Pepy’s house in Seething Lane.

Thank you to Mrs Sobanda for creating the houses and Mr Lomax who stood by as our firefighter.
