Subject-specific knowledge is an important part of our curriculum delivery. However, equally key to our students’ development are those core skills that enable pupils to grow as learners; research, effective use of ICT, presentation, collaboration and we place great importance on instilling these in our children. Students can study an HPQ in Y10 and Y11 and at KS3 they all follow an independent research and presentation course.
Our enrichment and P6 sessions in Seniors give the students more opportunity to go beyond the curriculum and all students are able to extend what can be covered in class by access to this wide variety of opportunities. Sancton Wood offers in excess of 100 enrichment opportunities each year, helping foster our core value of a ‘Intellectual Curiosity’
We offer a wide range of GCSEs and each year we tailor (and even create) the options to suit the cohort. We are very flexible and won’t limit a child to one humanities, language or arts subject; their choices depend on their passion.
