ISA Girls National Football Festival

On Tuesday 10th October 8 girls from Years 7 and 8 travelled to Ascot to take part in the Girls football festival. 16 teams entered the U13 group so the girls knew the task ahead of them.

They started the day strong with a very early goal by Captain Selina, unfortunately our opponents were quick to snatch back a goal resulting in a 1-1 draw.
In the next 2 matches the girls fort hard with some expert goal keeping from Ellie C.  We ended the group stages in 3rd place and made it into the trophy competition.   Our next game was saw us loosing 3-0 but Selina had a fantastic game in goal and it could of been a very different score line without her.
Our final game of the day was the 3rd and 4th play off match.Where some excellent defending and midfield play set Milly up nicely for her goal. The final score 1-0 to the Unicorns.
Well done to all the girls who played at the tournament you all had fantastic attitudes all day and showed tremendous sportsmanship throughout all matches.
Player of the tournament was Leia for her excellent and consistent skills in defence.
Some highlights of the day were getting a masterclass session from the Arsenal coaches and getting to meet Arsenal ladies first team player Heather O’Reilly. The girls have been very lucky and all been given a match day ticket to watch the Arsenal ladies team at any home game this season.
