How to talk to Robots (and school students)

Robots, dogs, Sci Fi, fashion and dancing to All Saints – all topics covered by AI expert and guest speaker, Tabitha Goldstaub at Sancton Wood Senior School this morning.

Tabitha is a tech entrepreneur and hugely impressive communicator on the future of Artificial Intelligence.  Tabitha was Chair of the UK Government’s AI Council and a member of the Digital Economy Council (for which she was awarded Member of the British Empire (MBE) for services to artificial intelligence). Her book, How to Talk to Robots: A Girls’ Guide to a World Dominated by AI, examines equality within an ever-changing, modern world by introducing readers to AI.  Tabitha’s talk at Sancton Wood encouraged young people to think about how they could use AI for future opportunities.

“It was great to have the opportunity to speak to the charming and engaged young people.  I think it’s key that they understand the ethical questions around AI but also the opportunities it may offer them in their own lives”.  (Tabitha Goldstaub)

Covering topics including the ethical considerations around AI meant students were encouraged to think about wider philosophical and global issues.  A cause close to Tabitha’s heart, she is a philanthropist who believes that all people should have access to the information they need to influence societies’ decision making.

“Tabitha was great at communicating such a massive and important issue in a really simple way that we could all understand.  It was a really interesting from start to finish” – Josh and Larissa Y11
