Down by the River

children measuring a river
On Tuesday 14th November all the Year 9 students went to investigate the middle course of the River Cam as part of our Rivers geography unit.  Students had to come up with their own hypotheses, methodology & risk assessment before walking to Fen Causeway and measuring river velocity, meanders, drawing field sketches and studying river management strategies.
We will be analysing and evaluating our data back in the classroom in order to test our hypotheses and evaluate data collection methodology.
Much fun was had getting out into the field and there were more than a few wet & muddy students when we returned but they were still smiling…!
